MN 2050 Partnership
Where the ASCE report card tries to condense into a single letter the condition of our vast systems of infrastructure for public consumption, the MN 2050 group is building a coalition of infrastructure organizations to leverage ASCE’s condensed message into action. The action starts with a consolidated and coordinated voice for infrastructure. ASCE Report Card
On Wednesday, April 26th, the American Society of Civil Engineers issued its quadrennial report card for the status of infrastructure in the State of Minnesota. Despite our state’s unofficial state motto as being “above average”, the GPA Minnesota earned is “C”. As members of MGEC, we’re already keenly aware of the state’s inconsistent efforts to maintain and modernize our infrastructure, but the ASCE’s report card attempts to bring the infrastructure conversation to new audiences. Contract Bargaining Update
Our contract continues to move along in the process toward arbitration. The next steps in the process are to select an arbitrator and set dates for arbitration. A list of 7 potential arbitrators has been provided to MGEC and the State. We research past cases that they’ve arbitrated and each side gets to eliminate 3 options from consideration. The last one remaining will be our arbitrator. We will work with that person to set dates for arbitration; as of now, it’s looking like the arbitration may not occur until June or July. This is the final days to register for the Professional Ethics Seminar April 18th, 2022 - Noon - 2:00pm. Register Here Friendly reminder: Remember that you are only required to have 2 hours of ethics training during the license period of July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022.
