Reduction or Increase of Hours
Have you considered either reducing or increasing the number of hours you work? New contract language in Article 6; Section 6 allows for the employee, employer and the union (MGEC) to agree to change the number of hours an employee is appointed to work; Full time to Part time or Part time to Full time. MGEC Dues Increase
The MGEC Board approved dues increase for members. Previous notice and explanation for the increase was provided 12 March 2024. The increase was two parts, like the wages increases of the current contract. The second increase of $0.74 will go into effect July 3, 2024. You should notice the change on the July 26, 2024, paycheck. In summary, most other union dues are 2-4 times greater and indexed to their wages. FINAL REMINDER: Scholarship & Awards Application
This is your final reminder to submit your MGEC scholarship applications for the Family Member Scholarships and the Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarship. Applications must be received by MGEC no later than 5:00 pm on June 30, 2024. Winners will be decided by the MGEC Membership Committee in July with announcement in August. MGEC, at their discretion, may award up to $4,000 each calendar year for scholarships, distributed amongst any number of qualified applicants for the Family Member and Connie Minetor Memorial Scholarships. Bemidji Lunch Event On May 22nd, Labor Rep Tony Kelly facilitated an MGEC Lunch at MnDOT’s facility in Bemidji. Members were able to enjoy lunch and receive a face-to-face update of what is happening with their union. More importantly, members were able to ask questions and get answers. Even though this isn’t a bargaining year, the subject of bargaining was on members’ minds.
