Late Thursday afternoon, MGEC received information on several important dates relating to the renegotiation of our labor agreement. While we have all been anxious about finally getting the official word about when the terms of bargaining will be implemented, there are no significant changes between what we were told in bargaining and what we heard today. The following dates are what the state communicated to us:
- The across the board wage increases of 2.5% retroactive to each July for 2021 and 2022 will be reflected in the pay period ending October 25th which will be paid November 4th.
- Effective October 26th, the range reassignments become effective. Employees immediately eligible for reassignment are employees who have been at the top step of their pay range for a year or more as of that date. They will be assigned to their new range starting payroll period October 26, 2022. They will see that pay increase on their November 18, 2022 paycheck. Eligible classes include the following: Engineering Specialist Senior, Engineering Specialist Principal, Radio Engineer 2, Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, Administrative Engineer, Land Surveyor Senior, Land Surveyor Principal, Land Surveyor Administrative.
- All eligible employees, who were in employment on June 20, 2022, and covered under this Agreement, shall be eligible for one (1) additional floating holiday which must be used on or before June 30, 2023. The additional floating holiday will not carry over after June 30, 2023, and will not be accumulated or paid off. All existing management rights to limit the number of employees that may be absent on any given day continue to apply. This language is in effect today.
We will share any additional details when they become available. We’ve all been anxious to get the timeline of events from MMB to share with you and are pleased to pass them along.
