MGEC members have a strong presence in almost all lines of business the State of Minnesota runs. In the spirit of having a stronger recognition of the totality and nuance of our work, we want to take a moment to note the work of our Military Affairs group.
Primarily located within the Design and Project Management area at Camp Ripley, there are also a couple of MGEC folks at the Air National Guard bases in Duluth and MSP. Our function is to provide land survey, design, and project management services for the maintenance of existing National Guard military facilities in Minnesota as well as construction of new facilities as needed. Our facilities include dozens of armories and vehicle maintenance facilities, several airfields and their associated aircraft maintenance facilities, the Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS) and Camp Ripley Training Center.
While operated by the State of Minnesota, funding comes the Federal Department of Defense; administration of the unit flows from both federal and state governments – which can create some interesting situations!
Enormous thanks to Mike Rude for hosting MGEC at a recent worksite lunch. If you’d like MGEC to come to your worksite, please reach out to your MGEC Representative and/or contact Tony Kelly to set it up.
