In Minnesota renewals for the Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor licenses are due June 30, 2024.
Somethings to keep in mind.
- Your state employer regularly checks public records to make sure your license is current. It seems like every two years someone fails to ensure that their renewal was completed and MGEC is made aware of subsequent discipline the state (as an employer) takes against that employee. Between the additional cost of renewing your professional license late and the cost of lost pay due to suspension, the cost of failing to confirm your license renewal is expensive.
- The Minnesota Board of Licensure expects to audit continuing education documentation in 2024. Continuing Education requirements in statute are clear.
Participants can expect documentation from MGEC this week documenting the following: Participant name, name of sponsoring organization, date, subject, and description of event, and the number of professional development hours earned. MGEC form of documentation has changed from that of a “certificate” to a format that contains the information needed and which can be disseminated in a way meeting the limitations of our mass email system. We’ve spoken with the Board of Licensure to assure that the new format meets their requirements.
